They’re Here… 21 Electric UTVs
The delivery of 21 electric work buggies has safely arrived at our Norfolk depot in Watton. After an impressive journey of two separate deliveries from both Shanghai and Ningbo 14 Work Buggies and seven of our latest utility vehicles, The Nipper, have found their way safely to our door.
There has been much discussion recently about delays in the supply chain with ports, rail yards and warehouses feeling the immense strain to meet demand as the economy has started to recover since Brexit and the beginning of the pandemic. As a result, the orders which were due to arrive in May bizarrely arrived in port on exactly the same day from their separate start points… unfortunately this is three months later due to delivery backlogs.
Delivery Lead Times
Electric Wheels, MD Chris Hurdle comments: “It’s mighty frustrating not having certainty on deliveries; it means that we can’t honestly promise our customers a date. Some have been waiting months, others have months more to wait on some vehicles. The only redeeming factor is that we are not alone, and all our customers have experienced the same situation, extensive delays are now commonplace for almost all consumer goods. We’re so appreciative of our customers’ and their devoted understanding.”
Out of 14 of the Work Buggies to arrive, all had already been sold before touching on our shores. Almost the same situation applies to The Nippers. Out of the seven, two have been sold, three will be added to our hire fleet and the remaining two will be kept in stock for future orders.
Assembling The Nippers
The Work Buggy was originally built in the factory and then disassembled and packed for the most space-efficient shipping. The Nipper was manufactured with transportation in mind. Both were then carefully unpacked and re-assembled at the new Watton 6000 sq. ft workshop. Electric Wheels’ specialist ex-RAF engineers have literally been pacing in anticipation of their arrival. Desperate to get stuck in to their careful and methodically planned production line.
Our next shipment arrives in October. It might be worth placing your orders sharpish! As once they’re gone, they’re gone. Lead times due to the supplier back logs in general are on average three to four months for delivery. “We’d love to be able to encourage their arrival sooner, but unfortunately it’s out of our hands,” adds Chris.
